Helen Barff & Simon Hitchens at the RA Summer Show

The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition will soon be open to the public and we're thrilled that two of our artists have been selected. Helen Barff's two cyanotypes on fabric, 'Mrs Adams' and Marion' - both featured in her solo show here at CLOSE in 2022 - were selected by David Remfry. Barff's work sits alongside those by Richard Malone, Lisa Milroy and Mimmo Paladino.

Simon Hitchen's 'Maywick Noontide',  one of a series of twelve sculptures made from carbon, wax and Crystacal, are casts of the midday shadows from each of the twelve geological time periods, giving form to the negative, liminal space of shadows.

Hitchen's work is currently on show at our gallery as part of 'Lines of Empathy', a group show of works on paper by 17 artists. Open until 22 July 2023
